RE: Interactive Guide To Using Copyrighted Media In Your Courses

Leslie - I made a demo blog for you so you can see how this might work. The blog is at
http://demo-for-leslie.blogspot.com/
I've enabled both email post (to send to the blog use the address lannyd.leslie@blogger.com) and email forwarding of posts, in this case to your address (lkhammer@illinois.edu). You should receive this message twice, since I'm sending it to you by email but since I'm also posting to blog by email. (The second time, the sender should be my gmail address - lanny.arvan@gmail.com.)

You can try sending to the blog yourself.

The archive you've got for listserv doesn't get indexed by Google, either the Campus or the public search engine, because it is password protected. The demo blog I made is publicly available and would be so indexed.

Hi Lanny,

Good thoughts. We do have an archive of this listserv at https://listserv.illinois.edu/archives/eforum.html.

A blog is a good idea and I will put some thought into developing that. Craig Jackson mentioned to me a week or so ago the idea of setting up a blog together/with a few people, maybe for a slightly different purpose, but maybe close enough to do what you suggest. For the time being, I am reliant on the email listserv in order to move things out of my email box and into yours in the moment I see it. Otherwise, I get overwhelmed with tasks and won't get to the sharing part.

Leslie - Given that you are putting considerable effort into making these sorts of posts and some discussion that happened at the eLearning Committee, might we try having some blog with tagging as the place where these posts are made, with the posts then forwarded to this list? The timing of when I as a user might be interested in this post differs from when you are sending it. If we had an archive, it potentially could be found quite quickly. If several of us contributed to it, we'd have a growing campus resource.

Saw this reference in the Chronicle for Higher Education today and thought it was interesting enough to pass along.
